While we love the experience, the wand-keeper will go out of their way to select the person who seems least interested in being there. According to the universal studios web page there is no shelf life and no batteries in it. However there is mention of the wand tip occasionally having problems from damages above normal wear and tear. They also said that if this happens they will fix or exchange it in park at ollivanders.
