But things started looking up for Chandler senior year. He felt better. His hair grew back. He wanted to make friends. Slowly but surely it started to happen. Still, he felt a little nervous about prom. But a girl who is a friend of his asked him to go. They went with a group of other friends.

I had kind of forgotten how to socialize with people my age. I had spent so much time dealing with things that most teenagers will never have to deal with for their whole lives.

No one cares how you look. They are just there to have fun. Prom is about having fun with your friends. Mandy missed her first year of high school because she was getting treatment for leukemia. When it was time for her sophomore year to begin, Mandy did not want to go back to school. It turned out to be good after I got adjusted. Now to junior year, you are finally at the step of going shopping for your suit or dress and flowers. Was it really that exciting now looking back?

For many people, one of the greatest highlights is the food. The class officers of your grade always try to get the best food place. Luckily, the food at my prom was good, which only made the night for me. Junior year prom was probably the worst dance for a lot of us.

If you had a small school then the seniors and the juniors would have their proms together. If you went to a bigger school, then your proms would probably be separate. Your close friends aren't going. You would rather do something else either alone or with friends. You won't be in town or have a previously planned event on the same day.

The mood is light, and you are enjoying the moment, being present and imprinting the scene into your memory cache. Life is great until the beat changes. I was never the girl who got to participate in moments like that. But you know what…there are significant benefits to attending prom alone. Firstly, you get to spend time with the most important people in your life. The things we remember the most are the times we shared with our friends.
